History Across Two Continents

The Makinde Foundation has facilitated a historic physical and symbolic connection between the Hubbard Underground Railroad House in Ashtabula, Ohio, Cape Coast Castle in Ghana, and the Badagry Slavery Museum in Nigeria. This connection serves as a bridge between sites of captivity, resistance, and liberation—documenting the painful legacy of slavery while honoring the triumph, courage, and dignity of those who freed themselves with assistance of abolitionists like the Hubbard family.
