Makinde Pipeline to Construction Ownership and Management

A multi-step workforce initiative designed to introduce youth (starting in middle school) to the construction industry and guide them toward business ownership.

Our construction pipeline emphasizes inclusion, rewarding companies with a history of hiring women, Black, and minority workers while holding others accountable. Our efforts create apprenticeship pipelines, economic development opportunities, and minority ownership in trades

Program Phases:

Step 1: Intro to Success in Construction – Featuring mentorship with industry leaders.
Step 2: Connect to NCCER-accredited training programs.
Step 3: Partner with trade unions for apprenticeship pathways.
Step 4: Business development support for aspiring contractors.
Step 5: Licensing, grants, and certification assistance.
Step 6: Leadership development and community reinvestment.
